9/23/2023 0 Comments Movie mulholland driveThe two are a study in contrasts, but they connect nonetheless.įrom there, Lynch uses an entire different set of characters to stage an ingenious piece of misdirection. Betty knows nothing about Rita or the danger she might be in, but she agrees to help the stranger find her identity. The woman, who calls herself Rita, after a poster of Rita Hayworth in Gilda, takes refuge in a spacious apartment that Betty (Naomi Watts), an aspiring blond actor from Canada, is occupying while her aunt is out of town. The irresistible hook of the pilot, and the finished film is the mystery surrounding a glamorous brunette (Laura Elena Harring) who gets in a car accident in the Hollywood Hills and stumbles away with a purse filled with cash and a blue key, but no idea who she is. She deserves better than the town gives her. But the soul of Mulholland Drive is still the same: it’s about a sunny, optimistic dreamer from Deep River, Ontario, who lands in Hollywood hoping to make a career, but gets waylaid by circumstances beyond her control, losing her innocence – and a great deal more – in the process. It isn’t that difficult to figure out where the pilot ends and where Lynch’s new material starts – some scenes could air on network TV, others absolutely could not – and there’s a startling, almost calamitous quality to the way he deconstructs his own movie, making every single part of the first two-thirds or so up for renegotiation. And it won’t matter if the girl is more talented or not. Though Lynch himself admitted to feeling unhappy about the cut, his extraordinary reclamation project seems informed by the common disappointment of not making it in Hollywood – whether through accidents of luck or timing, lack of better connections, or the unaccountable forces behind the scenes. He’s seduced by the Hollywood dream factory, but knows how ugly it looks on the inside.Ĭase in point: Mulholland Drive itself, which began as a rejected 90-minute pilot for ABC, the network that once turned Lynch’s Twin Peaks into a sensation, but refused to roll the dice a second time. Lynch’s affection for classic Hollywood has been apparent since his 1986 film Blue Velvet turned noir on its head, but his own career on its fringes informs Mulholland Drive just as strongly. (At No 28, it’s only a few slots behind Wong Kar-wai’s In the Mood for Love, another bewitching masterpiece.) It’s surely no coincidence that Vertigo, along with Sunset Boulevard, is the film Lynch most directly references as the identities of two very different women merge and then fracture into so many pieces that it takes multiple viewings just to start putting them back together. David Lynch’s Mulholland Drive, now 20 years old, is on the same journey, one of only two 21st-century movies to place on the most recent Sight & Sound Top 100.

Apple’s operating system uses a variety of methods to launch apps, from Launchpad’s grid of app icons to Spotlight search. If you are using MacOS but prefer the Windows Start menu, try the aptly named Start on your Mac. This Mac app adds a drop-down list to the Mac’s menu bar. It can list your installed apps just like the Windows equivalent, as well as files, folders, and even URLs. They are all categorized by type, and you can add tags and colors to help sort your items. If you miss the Windows Start menu, this is the app for you. In the clash between the Mac dock and Windows 10’s taskbar, I’ve always preferred the latter. While MacOS merges your app icons and open windows into a single Dock button, Windows differentiates them, making app management a little bit easier. If you feel the same way, give uBar a go. It brings a new level of customization to the Dock. You can keep things simple and add functionality to Apple’s default Dock, or replace it entirely with a Windows-style taskbar, complete with bars showing your currently open windows. It even adds window previews when you hover over open apps, just like in Windows. If uBar is not quite your style, ActiveDock is a good alternative. This keeps the Dock but adds a ton of customization, so you can style it up in a way that suits you. This ranges from visual tweaks to wide-ranging overhauls of how the Dock works, so it should come in handy no matter what you have in mind. If you miss Windows 10’s look, two of the ActiveDock’s most useful features lets you add a Start menu to the Dock, as well as previews of open apps. These add some of Windows’ most useful functionality, while retaining the classic Mac visual style, making ActiveDock a good compromise between the two systems. One of my favorite Windows features is its in-built window snapping. Just drag a window to any edge of the screen and it will automatically snap to that side and fill the space accordingly. MacOS does not really have an equivalent - Split View gets halfway there, but is not nearly as good as what Windows has. Like the Windows snapping feature, BetterSnapTool is incredibly simple to use. What makes it stand apart, though, is the wealth of customization options it offers. You can assign keyboard shortcuts, change how windows resize, and even alter what each window’s traffic light buttons do when you right-click or middle-click on them. All that for a mere $3 makes it a great bargain. When I first switched from Windows to MacOS, the thing that took me the longest to get used to was app switching. On Windows, Alt+Tab cycles between the open windows of your apps. On MacOS, the similarly placed Command+Tab cycles between open apps if you want to switch between your open windows, you need to use Command+`, which messes with your muscle memory. This app does not just bring back the Windows method of app switching, but gives you a ton of extra options, down to the finest detail. 9/23/2023 0 Comments Adobe premiere cs6 troubleshootingWhat's wrong by exporting my timeline in a format that is not r3d files for reference and production management? The question I should ask you is, why shouldn't I need an output? I need an output as reference for the VFX department, I need an output for the sound designer, I need an output for the producer, I need an output for myself and to send to my girlfriend. If you are going to color correction, why do you need an output? Aren't they color correcting the native files? It looks like Adobe doesn't like exporting and rendering. If anyone found a solution to this problem, please help. Here some details of my workstation and source media: I switched to Premiere Pro for its ability to edit R3D media, but what's the point if we cannot export the project? And neither trimm it to a file that I can give to a colorist? I figured that this way the exporting process would have been successful. Redering would stop randomly, generating the same "Unkown Error in Copiling Movie".Īlthough I rendered the entire timeline by creating different IN-OUT with the work area selection.Īfter a long and tetious rendering process I managed to have the entire timeline "green" and ready to go. I managed to render the entire timeline before exporting. I have to bring an export of my film and a new trimmed project by tomorrow to a color house and I am currently stuck. Replace the media at the point of the error/crash (even though the error seems to happen randomly in dirrerent portions of the timeline) I am aware that this is one of the most common problems in this forum, and before opening a discussion I tried everithing I could: I get the same error if I attampt to create a new trimmed project with Project Manager. I am stuck with a feature film on a CS6 Timeline, getting an Unkown Error during rendering and Media Encoder exports. The retina converts optical illusion images into electronic signals, and thus it acts as an electronic image sensor of a digital camera. The cornea and lens focus light to reach the retina, which is a light-sensitive zone present on the inner lining of the back of the eye. This lens helps the eye to automatically focus on near and distant objects, and also the approaching objects, like an autofocus camera lens. The lens of the eye is located behind the pupil, and it focuses light. The iris controls the light that reaches the eye by adjusting the size of the pupil, and thus it functions like the diaphragm of a camera. Light focuses mainly on the cornea, which acts like a camera lens. The human eye operates similar to a digital camera in several ways: Therefore, no vision is possible at this point, and it's called the blind spot. There are no sensory nerve cells at the junction of the optic nerve and retina. Rods: Rods are the nerve cells that are more sensitive to dim lights. Optic Nerves: You can find two types of optic nerves, which are cones and rods.Ĭones: Cones are the nerve cells that are more sensitive to bright light. It becomes small to focus on objects at a distance and becomes big to focus on nearby objects. The lens alters the shape to focus light on the retina, with the help of ciliary muscles. Lens: The transparent portion situated behind the pupil is called the lens. These electrical impulses are then transmitted through optic nerves to the brain. Its function is to convert the images formed by the lens into electrical impulses. Retina: It is the light-sensitive layer that consists of nerve cells. The iris regulates the amount and intensity of light entering the eyes by adjusting the size of the iris. The colour of the eye is due to the colour of the iris. Iris: It is a dark, muscular tissue and ring-like structure present behind the cornea. It is a protective tough white layer (white part of the eye).Ĭornea: The transparent part in front of the sclera is called the cornea. Sclera: The outer covering of the eye is called the sclera. The pupil’s function is to adjust the amount of light entering the eye. Pupil: The pupil is a small opening in the iris. The most common kinds of muscles that are in the eye are the lateral rectus, medial rectus, inferior oblique, or superior rectus. They are responsible for controlling the movement of the eye. It also assists us in comprehending the operation of a camera. That so, learning about the structure and operation of the human eye is fascinating. Furthermore, these sense organs are comparable to cameras in that they assist humans in seeing objects when light from the outside enters them. It aids in object visualization as well as the perception of light, colour, and depth. The eye is one of the most significant and sophisticated sense organs that we have as humans. This membrane is made up of millions of nerve cells that clump together behind the eye to form the optic nerve, a huge nerve. The light-sensitive membrane that covers the back of the eye is known as the retina. The cornea, iris, pupil, and lens make up the front of the eye, which focuses the image onto the retina. They focus on the light that's reflected in their eyes. The way your eyes work is similar to how a camera does. We learn 80% of what we know through our senses of sight. We can be aware and see beautiful things around our environment, thanks to our vision. The eyes of all mammals have a non-image-forming photosensitive ganglion in the retina which receives light, adjusts the size of the pupil, regulates the supply of melatonin hormones, and also entertains the body clock. That means the circuit can provide the 5 amps needed by the Endless Breeze fan, making it perfect for our application. According to the panel information, the range hood on our camper is on its own circuit and is protected with a 5 amp fuse. The next step is to examine the camper 12-volt distribution panel to find the fuse rating for the circuit that we have chosen to tap. Here are the materials needed to begin the project a hole saw and drill, a crimping and stripping tool, various lug and spade connectors, circuit taps, color-coded 16-gauge wire, a multi-meter, and basic screwdrivers.Ībove: Note the circled entry on the distribution panel identifying the range hood and its amperage. Everything considered, the range hood is an obvious choice for installing the new outlet.Ībove: Here are some assembled tools for today’s project. Equally important, the location of the range hood is up and out of the way to protect the new outlet from dirt, debris, loose objects, and water in the kitchen area. On the other hand, the range hood circuit also offers the necessary 12-volt power, offers an easy solution for concealing the required wiring, and provides space for mounting the new 12-volt outlet. The LED light circuit over the sink could provide the necessary 12-volt power, but it would be difficult to conceal the wires needed for the new 12-volt outlet. We can determine that these circuits are 12-volt (as opposed to 110 volt) as they operate when the camper is disconnected from 110 volt shore power.Ībove: Notice the proximity of the LED light and the range hood to our desired location for the new outlet On our truck camper, the 12-volt circuits near the kitchen window include an LED light over the kitchen sink, a range hood fan, and a range hood light. In short, be careful not to exceed 5-amps on a 5-amp circuit or you could overload the circuit and blow the fuse. This is unlikely as most 5-amp appliances and devices do not operate at 5-amps, but it’s very important to be aware of your total amp draw on a given circuit. For example, if you have a 5-amp light and a 5-amp fan on the same 12-volt circuit, the peak amp draw on that circuit is potentially 10-amps. SAFETY NOTE: Amp draw on a 12-volt circuit is cumulative. Any circuit that works when we are unplugged from shore power (and not running a generator or inverter) is operating at 12-volts. The circuit needs to handle 5 amps without overloading. Checking the label of the Endless Breeze fan (see above) reveals that the expected current draw is 5 amps, or less.įor the installation, we will need to locate an existing 12-volt circuit with wiring near the intended installation site. The first step is to choose an appropriate power source for the new 12-volt outlet. Let’s get started.Ībove: The amperage recommendation is clearly printed on the label of our Endless Breeze fan. Once completed, we can not only plug in the Endless Breeze fan, but a wide variety of 12-volt items that use the same cigarette-lighter type plug. The cigarette-lighter outlet is the most common and versatile of all 12-volt outlets, and is similar to the 12-volt outlets found in automobiles. Cigarette-Lighter 12-Volt OutletĮndless Breeze fans use a cigarette-lighter type plug, so our choice for this task will be the corresponding outlet. An Endless Breeze fan is a very efficient solution for directing fresh air to a truck camper dinette or cabover during hot weather. Endless Breeze fans are essentially freestanding Fantastic Vents, nearly identical to what’s installed in most truck camper ceilings. It’s time to get out of the 12-volt classroom, and enhance the 12-volt system in your truck camper.įor this example, I’ve chosen to add a 12-volt outlet for powering an Endless Breeze fan. We’re not taking to the high seas for this swashbuckling electrical adventure, but we will be putting what we learned in “ 12-Volt Circuits 101” to practical use. Fellow truck camper and 12-volt sharp shooter, John Wells, returns with a step-by-step article on installing a 12-volt outlet. 9/22/2023 0 Comments Ia writer templateJust like those other options, though, it's a fairly complex endeavor to write CSS and JavaScript if you want to go beyond the basic options on the app's template UI. IA Writer allows custom templates for the output, like Scriviner and Ulysses and PanDoc. The reason to use this app over something slightly cheaper is the ability to export to formatted pdfs and html, including selecting some text and copying that to the clipboard as html, which ByWord also does. The only thing I don't believe is accessible in the app is the search function, which is a shame because it has the capacity to parse regexpressions-a very powerful way to search. That's great, but Windows uses a different code page by default, which will often make things like curly quotes and international characters turn into garbage when opening one of these files. Only issue is that, like VoiceDream Writer and most of these text editors, the files are encoded as UTF-8 with no byte-order mark (BOM).
